Athletic coaches play an extremely influential and unique role in the lives of young men, often serving as mentors far beyond the field. Because of these relationships, coaches have countless opportunities—during team talks, practices, and everyday conversations—to shape how young men think and behave, both as athletes and as people.
That’s why Coaching Boys Into Men (CBIM) was created: a program that equips coaches to use their influence to promote respect, integrity, and non-violence. CBIM provides twelve structured, brief, conversation- based “training sessions” that coaches weave into their regular practices with athletes. Each session is on a different topic that promotes healthy relationship skills.
The Coaches Card Series is a tool that makes this easy. Each card offers a simple, ready-to-use guide for a CBIM training session, helping coaches lead meaningful discussions with their teams. Additional resources support coaches in sharing CBIM’s message throughout their school and larger community. Use the card series to help your athletes build skills around healthy relationships, mental health, and standing up against violence.
